Rafael Fraguas De Pablo (Madrid, 1949), is a Spanish sociologist, journalist, writer and teacher, specialising in the Spanish secret service, Shiite Islam and nuclear weapons. During the Franco dictatorship, he was a student leader, activist of the Worker's Commissions and international policy editor of the PCE (Spanish Comunist Party) newspaper, Mundo Obrero. A founding member of the daily El País, he was a special envoy to Africa and the Middle East, covering numerous conflicts. He teaches at the Fundación Sindical Primero de Mayo in Madrid, where he lives. He is married and has three children.
