Translator, Activist, Linguist, Thinker, Blogger
My life is full of breaks and diversions that have taken me on a wondrous journey full of amazing, crazy, life changing encounters, moments and insights.
Grew up in a small village in Bavaria. Comprehensive school, apprenticeship as shop assistant in the supermarket sausage & deli-counter, au pair in England, further education college, European Business Studies at Regensburg Polytechnic and Oxford Brookes University.
Moved to Brighton, UK: 7 years employment in marketing and distribution with an exclusive loudspeaker manufacturer, seven month journey through Latin America (Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brasil), then MA degree in Applied Linguistics at Sussex University and at the same time distance course in translating at City University London. Since then freelance translator and part-time admin worker at a prison near Brighton.
Since 2008 member of the World Development Movement, where I am active in the local Brighton & Hove group. Also since 2008 member of Tlaxcala, the international network of translators for linguistic diversity.
The journey continues...
