Luis Britto García (Caracas, 1940) is a Venezuelan essayist, playwright, artist, underwater explorer and author of more than 60 titles. His narrative has been awarded twice with the Casa de Las Américas Prize, for his works Rajatabla (Casa de las Américas prize, 1970) and Abrapalabra (Casa de las Américas prize, 1979). The mass of the slave won the Andrés Bello Latin American theatre prize in 1980. In 2002, he won the National Prize for Literature. And in 2010, the Alba cultural prize.
